Coaching

The Gap Little Athletics has several  Level 1/ Level 2 coaches on the arena each Wednesday and Friday night. 

And there are also more than 20 people with basic coaching knowledge who can assist with advising the athletes.


List of current qualified Coaches:
  • Tokuko Pitt:   Level 4 hurdle, sprints, LJ, TJ
  • Gary Morrisby:  Level 2 Multi, Level 2 Advanced Throws, FAST
  • Bernadette Duggan  Level 2 Jumps
  • Lynette Kotze:  HJ - flop and scissor
  • Andrew Duggan: All Throws
  • Casey Atkins:  ITC, Tiny Tots, FAST
  • Kate Watson:  ITC, Tiny Tots FAST, Middle Distance
  • Eilish Cook:  ITC, U6, FAST

Coaching night is Wednesday from 6:00 pm (5:45 for  warm up) at The Gap State High School Oval for all athletes (except tiny tots).


Individual or group coaching for all throws, Long Jump, Triple jump or scissor high jump is available by appointment (generally weekends or after 4pm). - ask Gary

We welcome any and all to join the coaching team.  

The club offers Intro to Coaching courses free for all parents and senior athletes.  Speak to any of the committee to register

And Level 1 and 2 courses are available; the club will pay the fees for these courses if coaches can assist on Wednesday nights.



 Officials

 All parents are expected to assist at the club and the best way is to officiate at your athlete's events during Friday evening events.

It's also a great way to get up close to the athletes at the Regional and other LAQ events

It's easy to become an official and you will be helping your athlete as well as the club.  Some simple steps:
